How Sovereign Executives Get Both What They Want and What They Need

I hate it when life seems to follow art.

In the Rolling Stones song You Can’t Always Get What You Want, they tell us that if you don’t get what you want, you’ll get what you need — as if getting what you need is some kind of consolation prize.

And honestly, it can feel that way. I've been there — and I’m sure you have too.

We’re taught to believe that what we need will rarely look like what we want. That maybe we should just be grateful for whatever shows up, even if it’s not what we hoped for.

Life following art — right?

But for Sovereign Executives, that’s not how it works.

Because when you learn to work with the Universe, what you want and what you need become one and the same — and that’s when life gets really good.

Your Soul Already Knows

Your soul already knows what you truly want — and from its perspective, that is what you need.

The challenge is that your soul’s voice is quiet, while the world’s noise — the pressure, the expectations, the inherited programming — is loud.

So we chase what we think will make us happy: the title, the achievement, the version of success we were told to desire.

And sometimes, we get it. And it feels amazing… until it doesn’t. Because external wins don’t fill internal gaps. Expressing your truth and greatness does.

A Practice to Align Want and Need

Here’s a simple practice I share with my clients to help bring want and need into alignment:

Each morning, before your feet even hit the floor, ask:

“Universe, bring me only what truly belongs to me.”

Because what truly belongs to you is unlimited, long-lasting, and fulfilling — inside and out.

Then notice what starts to show up: a new opportunity, a conversation, a feeling, even a challenge that asks more of you.

Even if it’s not what you expected, pause and ask:

“How might this be connected to a deeper desire?”

And then — be grateful. Because gratitude helps you see the hidden alignment between what you’ve been asking for and what your soul is bringing to you.

Finally, ask:

“Why does my soul want me to have this? Why now? And how can I use this gift to reveal my greatness?”

Maybe your soul has been waiting your whole life for you to receive this —and now, because you’ve finally asked for only what truly belongs to you, it can deliver.

Leading as a Sovereign Executive

When you’re living and leading from that place, you stop chasing what you want and start receiving what’s meant.

That’s what it means to lead as a Sovereign Executive — aligned, attuned, and supported by something greater than strategy alone.

When you work with the Universe, what you want and what you need aren’t opposites — they’re the same thing.

💎 Sovereign Executive Insight
